What to post on Instagram?

Instagram

We recommend that you don't open your own Instagram account if you don't have time for it. But we also understand that you might want to anyway. Please keep track of your login and password, as the reason we don't recommend it is that people start and then abandon their accounts and then no one remembers the login and it's very difficult to have such abandoned accounts taken down.

But we would really like to showcase our work on Instagram – is that allowed?

If you're certain that you can devote the necessary time and energy to maintaining an Instagram account, you can open one for your store. You might want to assign one particular person to manage the account, so that you are sure that you post regularly and begin to build a following. It can be hard to gain followers on Instagram without doing paid posts, but with the expansion of different formats for Instagram - like Stories and Reels, the options are greater than they once were.

What is good content for Instagram?

Instagram comes in an array of formats these days - picture posts, multiple picture posts where you swipe through to see them all, small videos called Reels and Stories.

Instagram is definitely privileging Reels in their algorithm these days. Reels are small videos (Instagram has been heavily inspired by TikTok) with music or a voiceover. There are a lot of apps that can help you make great Reels, but Instagram also has basic tools built in to help you get started on this format.

Stories are a great way to post a series of messages - maybe tips for choosing your appliances or worktops - or for sharing an event you have going on in your store, or you can share progress if you're rebuilding your store. Stories disappear after 24 hours unless you save them in a highlight.

Some ideas for things to share on your grid and in Reels 💡 :

  • Before & after photos of kitchens you do for customers

  • Resharing your customers' photos (with their permission) and tagging them (this can help you expand your follower base)

  • Behind the scenes glimpses of life in your store - maybe show assembly in your workshop

  • Make up your own moodboards and share them regularly - like do a Moodboard Monday post every Monday

  • Videos of events in your store - maybe you're baking one day or have a wine tasting

  • Videos containing tips & tricks - like organising or trash options, or a sustainability message

  • A video showing three similar worktops in three different materials, that educates your followers as to the price range

People are looking at Instagram for inspiration, so be sure to share really nice pictures. You can always use photos from our media bank, but there's much more social proof in using photos from your actual customers and the kitchens you've designed for them.

Be sure to tag our global account @kvikkitchen, so we can reshare your posts as stories and on our grid. User photos are what we primarily share on our Instagram account - people are inspired to see real kitchens, baths and wardrobes that others have done in their homes.

Happy Instagramming!
